Behind the Book: Embracing Stillness

Let’s be honest—my brain used to be like a hyperactive squirrel trapped in a Red Bull factory. If there was an Olympic sport for overthinking, I’d have a gold medal and a burnt-out nervous system to go with it. So naturally, when someone suggested I try “stillness,” I laughed so hard I nearly spilled my anxiety tea.
But here’s the thing: stillness works. Not in the weird, floaty, incense-and-enlightenment kind of way. I’m talking about the gritty, imperfect, probably-still-checking-your-phone kind of stillness that happens in real life. Like when you’re stuck in a traffic jam and realise you don’t have to solve all of humanity’s problems before the light turns green.
That’s what
is about.
Written during one of life’s more chaotic chapters (and let’s be real, when is life not chaos?), this book is my no-nonsense, slightly sarcastic guide to finding calm in the madness. You don’t need a Himalayan guru or a forest retreat—you just need five minutes, a willingness to breathe, and maybe a snack.
Inside, you’ll find:
Mindfulness hacks that work even when your brain is playing ping-pong
Ways to silence your inner critic (or at least get it to lower its voice)
The revolutionary idea that doing “nothing” might actually help you feel better
And a few honest laughs to remind you you’re not alone in the chaos
This book came out of my own battle with mental noise, constant busyness, and the sneaky suspicion that I’d forgotten how to just be. If any of that rings a bell, this one’s for you.
So go on—give your squirrel brain a break. Let’s learn how to be still, together.
